@yukinoh1989
You can add modifiers with the blue key on the proprieties pannel
The simple deform modifier is in the “Deform” categories
Taper is an option when you add a simple deform modifier to an object ๐
Here is the documentation about the simple deform modifier if you want to know a bit more:

“Week 1 Homework Submission”
8 months ago (in january) i’ve experienced the first class made by cg cookie and it helped me to progress a LOT.
I decided to try it again especially because blender 2.8 is comming soon, so i think this class is the perfect place for me to be comfortable with.
My goal during these month is to see if i became stronger or not in cg.
I’ve already completed the exercice of “model with primitives” a couple of month ago,
This was my submission: https://cgcookie.com/exercise/modeling-with-primatives/exercise_submissions/12261
This image is what i’ve made the first time i’ve done this exercice in the class of January
And… this is my current level and my submission: (I dont know if i have to upload it into sketchfab or not)
My personnal thoughts during this exercice:
It’s SO HARD to be constrain with primitives only… i wanna sculpt !
At least, please give me the Edit mode… xD
@tbrbn Thanks again thibaut ^^.
It works indeed.
… I just realise the amount of work i have to do now…. 0_0′
Why did i get so crazy with thoses spikes ? xD
Thanks for the compliment ๐
Nice shapes ^^
I agree it really looks a tree creature with 4 pawns and 2 heads
It’s interessting to see what the imagination can create from a ball ๐
If you want to learn about sculpting i recommand you the introduction about sculpting here, it’s very helpful especially when you start with sculpting ๐
I totaly agree with the others !
It’s NORMAL to feel dissatisfied, because we are artist we try unconsciously to reach the perfection (wich is impossible, because it doesn’t exist)…. or at least a level of skills above our actual one.
In my point of view, this is the “fate” of artists… constantly push higher our limit and be unsatisfied with what we have already…
Thats what make us stronger… but also more vulnerable to self-doubting, especially when we compare each over.
It took me a couple of time to admit that i will never be 100% satisfied with what i’m create (even if i love it).
This is my advice:
This art, project, render (no matter you wanna call it) is a step that you create to climb your own stairs to reach your next goal.
Nobody needs a “prefect” step to put a feet on… We Just need a strong enough one ๐
@tbrbn It woooooorks !
Thanks it seems i need to work a bit more on shaders ! ^^
Here is the material to get this render:
So… if i’m right:
-The “Fac” output of the attribute node (at the bottom) says “this is the belly of charmander”
-To put it into the fac input of the mix shader says “The belly and the rest of the body of charmander are two different parameters:
Color 1 is the belly
Color 2 is the rest of the body
-Plug the varonoi texture into color 1 says “The belly is colored by the varonoi”
-Let the color 2 without a texture says “no bumps here”, just the default parameter.
Weew !
Jake, Thibaut, Phil, thanks a lot for your answers ๐
@phoenix4690 Not really. gleb doesn’t show a way to use a procedural texture on a specific place of his mesh.
Unlike me he use a low-poly model with a UV map.
But thanks anyway =)
@williamatics Glad to know i’m not the only one to do this ^^
Thanks a LOT for your kind words and advices, i will work and i’ll do better next time ๐
My very first human head: https://skfb.ly/6yUpL
I made this by following the course “Blender Mesh Modeling Bootcamp” of Jonathan Lampel.
I tried to model it by my own with the course as a support rather than copy the instructor to get the exact same result at the end.
And here is the result… This human thing… witch looks like a doll or an android ^^’.
I know there is a LOT of mistakes, the proportions aren’t good, and i’m not very aware about human anatomy…
My goal is to be able to model Anything
What advice can you give me to improve myself at modeling in general?
Ps: i HIGHLY recommand this course to people who wants to improve, i was definitly unable to make this the last week !

@jgonzalez I don’t know.
All i’ve done is wait an hour, re-try and i could download the file.
The problem seems to be solved. Sorry for this post ^^’
WOW !
Thanks a Lot Dolores ^^.
I understand why i was wrong now ๐
I can go forward ^^, thanks ๐
BC1-1801 Week 4 Homework Submission

I tried to sculpt a character ( i was suppose to make something very challenging)
During this week i think i’ve overestimate my abilities to create an “Alien-like” creature with the short amout of time i had.
However it helped me to see were my weaknesses are and most importantly… find something i’d love to create…
i would like to say a HUGE thanks to Kent, all the instructors of CG cookie, all the community, and you, who are reading this message ^^.
This month was the best of my formation since i started blender 5 month ago.
These classes gave me 3 things:
-Knowledge i didn’t have
-Self-confidence in myself (I never thought I’d be able to sculpt melvin, or the sword i made)
-A goal to achieve
Now, i want to increase my sculpt abilities but also… Create characters !
This head (badly sculpt i know ^^’) is only the beginning of a project for me.
Cya in march ! ๐
PS: Sorry for my bad english ^^’
Cya in march then ^^
