I made the fix… I think I solved the streaking issue. I tried removing any stray vertices and edges, then flipped some of my normals that were inside out. I don’t see any of the streaks in the master file, so I guess it’s okay?

It looks great Dough. I’m still a bit scared of texture painting. It feels like you have to know how to draw.

For the eyes Kent has a livestream where he taught how to do them procedurally. You can watch that.

Or maybe you can leave the fish with no eye and the plaque will read “How do you call a fish with no eye….. a Fsh”

So I googled “Spice Vendor” since I didn’t really know what it was. Now I know what it is, it’s like the tasty powders you put on food. So the theme of the concept art it’s clearer in my mind, also now I see to the left there’s like a small stall with some spices. If you only see it from the outside you’d think man this merchant really needs to up their spice game, but wait till the camera gets inside, that stall is just like the quick access delivery option.

Yes, everything is ok now. Thanks Dave.

And thanks Spikey. If Kent is Aragorn, then Spikey would be like the wise Gandalf that’s always full of knowledge.

Yes I wholeheartedly agree this would look awesome.

I found this online. I didn’t know Melvin had some merry friends with him. Except for the blue last one, he looks one bully away from becoming the dude who used to be the protagonist friend. Look, he even has the W, like Mario and Wario, Melvin and Welvin. More there of, blue is even the opposite of orange in the color wheel. That dude is destined to turn to the darkside.

Maybe he liked to put some magical extra something something on the spices and got in trouble. Melvin was like “We are not that kind of store Welvin! No Mouth, All Action Red Nelb tricked me with his grandma, twice!” A fight like in the tower with Gandalf and Saruman broke between them on the third floor of the house. It was not pretty.

Those are all counterparts from the MelvinVerse Omar.
The bottom left one works in Monsters Inc. and is a 2-eyed cousin to Mike Wazousky.

Ahhh, feels good to be surrounded by fellow nerds.

I made some test layout of the space in the kitchen with the stairs added. The stair is very wide because Melvin.  I’m not entirely sure if it works, I think maybe there should be space for the spice stands. I’m not sure. Maybe tables and chairs shouldn’t be there or maybe the stairs should be one of those spirals one so it doesn’t take too much space.

I like those stairs Omar. But I am having these crazy ideas that what if Melvin uses elevator platforms that are operated by the windmill mechanisms? A platform would take up less space and look more in line when Melvin has his mouth full of Jars/barrels not trying to fumble up the steps.

Something along these lines, except I am thinking ropes would be better for the hoisting of the elevator/platform.

I’ll try to draft something up.

I think if it will be powered by the water mill, it should be made of chains, so it can go on the teeth of the gears. With a rope, you would have a pulley system set up, and Melvin would have to pull himself up… unless he uses his magic to get in-between floors. Leviosa!

I would like to point out we are doing it sorta wrong.

The place to hash out such ideas and riff on this sorts of things is in the pre-production concept art phase, where you can try things out and move stuff around before actually going into modeling and such. But since we don’t have a concept artist and it’s a free all out build it as we go crazy experiment we have going here, there’s no harm in skipping a step or two.

I think it’ll all probably settle into something once we reach the first livestream with Kent and he gets to make the choice of what sticks. But yeah, the creative process is a messy and wasteful one.

Well you do have a concept artist now. But I’ve decided against my initial idea to help you and will just watch all this madness unfold. I’m enjoying it beyond words.
On a serious note, if you actually do need any sort of info regarding my initial ideas (which you pretty much all got right already and even more), I’ll be more than happy to share. Or I can do some concepts based on your ongoing ideas, which I like quite a lot more, if you need that kind of stuff.
