Thanks. That worked. So it needs to be set to “string”. That’s basically what I needed to know.

Am I allowed to come in these comments just to point out it “who’s”? Sorry.

Yeah. I forgot about the treasure chest one, also. I did the chest but haven’t gone on to the rigging part yet.

Well it happens to me about once every two weeks, but then I have no friends and no wife anymore and never leave the house and just do stuff in blender like 14-16 hours a day. I see what you guys are saying about a solution. I will try it next time.

Oh. And coins as cylinders, too. I don’t know if that had an effect, but it makes sense to do it that way. To me anyway.

I set the coin weight to 0.007 kg which is slightly heavier than a US quarter. Maybe should go higher as gold has a high density. The passive container should be set to shape: mesh, source: base. Then the deactivation is also important. I went with 10 m/s. Those are the velocities at which blender says, “hey. the speed has dropped below this number so I am just gonna stop simulating.” I went as low as 5 m/s on those deactivation numbers and they didn’t stop moving fast enough for my taste. It seems to ME, and this was just through my testing, that the most important thing is the source: base because as soon as I changed that everything started working. I DID subdivide the mesh on the container at a level of 5 but I don’t know if that contributed to my success or not.

Sorry. As I will keep mentioning over and over, I have an m.s. in physics. LOL. And for me, it needs to be right and I need to understand why.

Thanks, Kent. the hard part was figuring out how to BUILD it. I take notes on tutorials, and whenever I do a tutorial, I immediately do another practice exercise of my own design so I can use my notes to do it and see if there were parts of the notes that weren’t written well enough for me to understand.

But you can have a picture of the crate I made with the stuff I learned in this tutorial.

No. I see. It’s just that cycles takes a long time to render and the vignette layer renders last and I wasn’t waiting long enough. It’s fine.

If you’ve got a problem, YO, I’ll solve it. Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it.

That’s where I am BTW. Yeah. My lock is quite different. It actually has a slot in the top where a tooth from the top rim fits in when the chest closes.

I see. I think there is more on this in the next sections of the tutorials maybe, too.

Don’t give up on the painting, man. I think you will surprise yourself at how fast you can get the hang of it. A graphics tablet makes things easier, too. I got an XP-Pen Deco Pro, and of the non-screen tablets that, apparently, is the best one. I am no professional artist but for only $125, I figured I may as well go with quality.
