Hey there, thought I’d throw my latest personal render in, which I created a few weeks ago, simply entitled Nintendo Switch. As I said when I first uploaded it to the gallery it’s a mess topologically speaking, but I feel like I’ve improved on my lighting somewhat in comparison to my older stuff. I’m aware of some problems like the materials being really simplistic and the asymmetrical triggers but any feedback into making this look like the real thing is greatly appreciated. Starting to get into sculpting so hoping I’ll forever be improving!

      The image:

The animation (so you can see problems like the triggers better):

Been doing this kind of stuff consistently since early February so hopefully I’m improving at an adequate pace. Thanks in advance for any feedback I may receive!

Here’s my project for Live Critiques:

I took a reference image, began modeling, texturing and all the other good stuff. Shooting for realistic interior render look. Made two scenes, when the sun is up and at night when there’s no one around.

QUESTION 😉 Is there a deadline to submit art work?

Hi, I’ve been underground for a while, and would love to participate in this round of critiques, but I’m working on fixing up a house that has no internet during the week, so I’ll have to step out.  That’s why I haven’t been as active lately.  Good luck, everyone!  Stuff looks good so far!

@zachzellman I suppose the only deadline would be to submit by Monday, May 21st to be critiqued for the last stream. Does that make sense?

@silentheart00 There will certainly be more critique months in the future. Good luck with the house work. I can relate so hard.

Hey, I’m relatively new to CG but have learnt a great amount from you guys. Thanks again. I made this a sword, as a sort of re-imagining of what a sword from the fire nation (Avatar Last Air Bender) might look like. I tried to get the cross guard similar to their symbol. I will note that I got the textures from the net and just attempted to apply them as best I could, I’m not sure on how to texture much.  Rip it apart 😀

Question, Are there rules on how much art we can post in here? or will anyone who posts excess just be largely ignored.

@panboy We’ve not had anyone submit excessively before, but I’d say submitting once per week is fine. Just understand that our first priority will be to critique everyone. But if we don’t get that many submissions, we could critique multiple submissions from the same person (once per week).

                              Hi Kent,

Any idea of which submissions will be reviewed today ?

                              Thanks 🙂

@asifh I’m simply going in order of submission, so the first 4 artworks posted are getting reviewed today.

                                  Hey there!

Here is my submission for the critique session.

I would like some feedback on:

                                  1. The topology on the left pad, it doesn’t look that great

                                  2. The transition from the grips to the body

                                  3. The lighting

                                  4. The overall topology

                                  5. How to create a bunch of small holes just behind the touchpad. When I tried it, the geometry got way too busy and messy.

                                  Sketchfab url: https://sketchfab.com/models/f5ad7734e08f4f91a3b081d5a406ea32

Edit: This work is mostly focused on modeling and good topology. Also, I already noticed I have too many edge loops around the pads, so that’s already one thing I could improve :).

Edit 2: The model is now also available for download on Sketchfab. It was rendered in Eevee btw 🙂 (you can see the overlays from the viewport)
