I’ll try and recreate this, but from first glance, it might be an issue with how the pivot point or snapping is set? I’ll get back with some more clarity soon

thankyou! While each instructor in the CORE series has their own style, I’ve been through a few of them, and even completed the Sculpting course. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Thankyou Dwayne! Yes, the “brush” folder will house the icon that Blender searches for when displaying the brush in the interface, and textures will house the actual texture. Keep in mind, this is for any version before 4.3, before Grease Pencil got its recent glow-up. It’s a little different now. I will be happy to talk you through the current set up in your submission.

No, it isn’t. It’s a snippet from one of the showreels. Possibly slipped through edit, but could have been there to illustrate “create what you want”.

You can get away without using a model sheet much more easily these days, but it is still a useful skill, especially if you need to collaborate in a team that could require a range of skills and working pipelines. I would assume methods such as sculpting could replace the turnaround sheet, but keep in mind this is a different workflow, and doesn’t suit everyone. It involves sculpting your concepts – much like maquette work, and then retopologizing your final to make it light-weight enough to re-integrate into the pipeline for texturing and rigging. If you think better in 3D space like this rather than trying to imagine what the model in your head would look like from different angles, it is absolutely viable.

I’m glad that analogy worked for you! You might hit some problems when it stretches a little beyond this, but we can revisit then. For now, if this works, letting the points sink in one step at a time could be a good approach.

No not really. Draw (free to watch and follow) covers the basics of learning how to use Grease Pencil. This course specifically focuses on techniques for creating a character turnaround.

Hi Samuel, the entire course was available here on the website from the release date, and each lesson is released on Youtube a day at a time. All the lessons are now public in Youtube. Both ways of accessing the course are free; signing up as a free member here has the added advantage of: participating in the Community boards, accessing the entire course from day 1, and accessing all course files supplied. Some people don’t want to become mambers – and that’s ok! That’s why we still make the course available on Youtube as well.

Outline is a bit confusing right now. There’s legacy placeholders for parts of the tool. I’ve currently found that you just have to enable it, and it will use the material you’ve assigned the brush as the outline, or fill. The dropdown will only populate with imported textures or created materials.

Unless you have completely scrubbed Blender from your system, you should have shared AppData and the new version – upon install – should ask if you want to keep those settings. Some things might not come across – often I have broken asset library data – but most preferences should be just fine. What OS are you running?

That’s a lovely sentiment and I hope you stick around to advance your skills. We offer free content for a number of reasons – sometimes you want to see if it is for you, and that’s ok if it isn’t, or you cannot afford to invest in your career right now. I’m really glad this has inspired you enough to consider it, and hope to see you active in our community before too long!

Absolutely! LTS versions are generally the best to go with if you want to take your time learning, as they provide support (bug fixes, mostly)  beyond the next releases. This is important in a production setting where there is a “version lock” when a project begins, so that everyone is on the same software. New features are tested in the intervening versions, but it usually isn’t until an LTS release that they are well-documented enough and have good support.

Yeah that is one caveat to the Emulate 3-Button mouse – which I’ll admit, I have on more often than not. There are some workarounds, but AFAIK no default to replace the lost funtionality. The workaround that is easiest, would be to assign a shortcut to toggle Emulate 3 button mouse on/off, or a shortcut key for lost functions (in this case, committing)

Hi there! Yes, apologies, I did not pack the textures properly. I have now fixed this and re-uploaded the course files for you. Treasure Chest should look correct.
