I have the same problem. I followed Kent’s advice here and started to see some results, but the displacement map came more detailed than what I’m seeing in the tutorial.

Am I on the right track here?

Just because it didn’t happen to me at the same time (plus frequency and severity) as it happened to Ken, I assumed the bug was fixed since he is using an older version. I thought that I was dealing with something else.

I did some tests and the cause is the OctaneBlender addon. Not sure why is that.
