Forum Archive › [ENDED] BC3-1806 – June 2018 Class Homepage – Vehicle Modeling with Blender
@theluthier Thanks! I’m really glad with the result so far, I have always avoided vehicles interior as much as possible, but this time with the group’s dynamics it’s really much more enjoyable! 😀
Week 3 Homework submission
Wasn’t too sure how to present this so I just snippety snapped some screenshots with the clipping tool.
This part included pretty much work because of all the details. Damn the details seemed endless! And still there is so much to tweak so it would be called finished. The whole interior is full of first versions of everything at the moment but I’m glad I got so much of them done by the end of the week.

Homework submission Week 3
This was a difficult week, but I’m fairly happy with how things turned out in the end. It is far from perfect ( and I didn’t have time to texture it properly) but I’ve managed to do a lot more than I expected.

My home this week. I aimed for the steeple and didn’t even reach the clock. I wanted to realistically model a race seat but ended up spending what time I had on researching and modelling stitching. I am still way off what I hoped to achieve, however, I have succeed in finding many ways not to do it. The first image is a later attempt, I definitely felt progress, from the second image which was an earlier attempt.

@baukepost Ta very much! I won’t lie I’m starting to get a little tired of Blender at this point but we’re so close, best to soldier on. Don’t think you’ve shown us your interior (or the equivalent of) yet so i’m looking forward to seeing it.
It’s always reassuring when Blender crashes every time you try to go into rendered mode. This is going to take like a month to render, isn’t it?
@adsb2035 This is the kinda stuff I wanna do and attempting that alongside modeling the entire interior within a week is admirable, good to hear you’re making progress too. Similar to the advice you gave @oboshape you definitely shouldn’t give up, but hey, even after the class is finished your model will always be there so who’s not to say you can’t go back to it and push it to the next level? That’s what I’ll be doing too, once I actually know what I’m doing regarding sculpting and shading.
@baukepost Dash fill. That is a difficult one, the model looks used but well maintained. This makes me feel it would be an official vehicle of sorts, police/Army. Having served in the armed forces there is very little in terms of technological advances when it comes to gauges. They just needed to be clear enough for concise information, robust enough to withstand the harshness of war and quickly replaced if they failed.
Homework Submission Week 3
References were a bit scarce, but managed to pull it off. I have suspicions that it’s a millitary version of interior, but I liked it nonetheless.
I changed the bed of the truck, closed it off, so basically no underfaces are visible from the bottom, and also fixed some wheels. Here is interior preview, working on uploading to sketchfab as we speak/read/write.
I will either edit or reply to the comment with sketchfab link. Depends how deep it will get burried in this couple of minutes.
One question: I’m not sure if report card means anything, but I have F first week for blueprint submission, I did post 2 links to a site, but did not define which vehicle I will be doing, is that the problem or should I post a screenshot of blueprints in blender ortho views?

Homework submission week 3

PS: As you can see there’s no Sketchfab link; my model wouldn’t upload. I’ll try again tomorrow.
@thecabbagedetective Sculpting is new, I’ll be there.
Homework submission week 3
Good lord that feels endless ! Won’t be able to work on it tomorrow so I’ll keep it up later. I need to finish/redo the seats, I’m not super happy with their shape, plus the seatbelts are missing. That and some extra panelling on the doors.
Quite happy with the rest however ! (right click and open the images on new tab for better res’)

Homework Submission Week 3
Well my conclusion after finishing the car exterior/interior modelling – I learnt a lot and still know nothing.. 😀
But before anything what is the huge benefit of the class system, inspite of having around zero time to Blender by the opinion of the rational mind, in the last month somehow I modelled everyday!! Which is an amazing success personally how to spare time to loved things.
Regarding this car interior it took again more efforts than thought, seeing the other models probably for the most of you guys these are relatively simple shapes as finally just the inside of a matchbox, but for me was not easy at all. Surely also it requires some work yet but so that came out in three weeks time.
Next time will come back again stronger for the shading course as read somewhere it is planned, by that time will do at least one diamond junction as this car doesn’t have such yet 🙂
Anyhow, before of the class I was quite sceptic that would be able to model a car, but this something really being similiar to a car and even to a Taxi Checker 😀

wow theres some really sweet work everyone, really nice to look at and follow what you all have now and your progress through the weeks 😉
@baukepost Wow… just… wow…
Not sure if I should feel encouraged or disheartened to be honest, but either way that’s phenomenal!
