Here’s my Toy Plane submission: https://cgcookie.com/u/jimmack/projects/toy-plane-14ec074b-210e-4066-bd22-0618d1a9e406

I’m afraid I’ll be dropping out of the course at this point.  It felt just a bit too much like hard work and not enough like enjoyable fun to create the plane.

Good luck to everyone else.  There are some great ideas and I hope you all manage to achieve the results your looking for.

        Hello Cookies eaters !

i’ve decided what car i will model.

This is an old school french car, Renault 16 TX (1980)

        Why that old stuff ?

Because i don’t like 1990/2000/2010 car designs. to me, the more you go back in time, the most interesting cars are.

And, may be avove that, it is a car that is well documented.

The problem with blueprints found on internet, is that they are rarely complete, nor precise.

When  it comes to model details and interior, it is best to have made a good  choice (a car with a lot of references). I know, because i have the  problem with my McLaren M4B which you can see the progress on my  profile. They are not a lot of references on internet, and i’m  struggling to model details accurately.

Well, my choice is made, i hope i won’t have to regret it, and hope you like it !

@freddie82 I’m glad someone is doing a Beetle!  I very nearly chose that one myself.  It was one of those projects that I started a year or so ago, kind of lost my way, life got busy, and motivation fizzled out.  I’ve meant for awhile to go back and give it another stab, so I look forward to seeing your progress.

As for the course goal I think I will continue on my truck project, I would actually like to focus on the engine components (hence the quick primitive V8 engine) and in the interior. The exterior part are quite finished already, should I start over a new one ?

As to the chosen vehicle, I was torn between Mazda MX-5 (which I like to look at) and Fiat 500 (which brings back good memories). In the end the Fiat won. I’m going to try and re-create this photo that was taken on holiday in Scotland.

The two gentlemen at car rental sneered at us when we picked it up, but it proved to be ideal for the super-narrow single roads in the western part of the country. I’m still not sure if every driver waved at us because they were happy to see a human face, or because they were relieved to have survived without crashing into us, but I do know that I remember that part of the journey fondly.

I have reviewed many blueprints, but nothing matches exactly – I’m going to use these, in addition to several images taken from different angles.

@csehz You’re stats are always on point. Wow, I never would have guessed 41 responses to that question. I enjoy seeing the variety in the class! Thank you for visualizing the data, good sir 🙇🏻‍♂️

@williamatics Curves aren’t a pre-req or anything and I think a tank will plenty challenging; the same principles we discuss will be applicable to the tank. No need to do the drone for the sake of curves, unless you just want to.

Hey guys, just a quick question:

I wanted to have some dimensions to go with, since that would make my life a bit easier. Do you think these would be relatively accurate? I wrote down metric as well as imperial, as you can see.

Edit: I see I forgot to add 1.4 meters/3.3 feet wide

@theluthier hey, yes I was trying to model starting with a cube but give up on that and do some verts modelling to get something more interesting :

QUESTION:  Is it necessary to model the interior of the airplane?

@baukepost If you’re going off the scale of the person sitting in the vehicle and assuming that person is 6′ tall, then it’s probably about right in the measurements.

                            What do others think?

@dieedi That’s looking pretty good!  It’s okay to throw out what’s not working and try again.  This second attempt looks like it’s working for you.

@williamatics I’m not sure but as we are going to model the vehicle interior, it’s a good training 😀

@silentheart00 Yeah, that’s the method used in some courses and I really prefer this way to model based on plan/picture ^^ (but I have to try other ways before staying in my comfort zone :D)
