@dragonice69 nice car! I think it’s pretty detailed to make a really awesome render ๐Ÿ™‚

So. I’m here now. Starting LM but if anyone will have some good tips I could do with my car I’ll be happy to make some additional changes.

@dragonice69 Good start! In this light it looks like a sci-fi glow car, pretty cool effect ๐Ÿ˜ฌ The wave pattern on your darker paint is very noticeable, don’t know if this was your intention?

@smurfmier1985 Wave? I don’t know what you mean. Please explain.

@dragonice69 I mean the stripes (looks bit like a wave texture thats why I called it that ๐Ÿ˜›)

@smurfmier1985 Well. I think that it’s just my mesh is not perfect and that’s why :/ But there is a texture that suppost to give some bit of a detail. I’ll check with different light when I’ll come back home.. Maybe it will look better. Thank you anyway ๐Ÿ™‚

Kudos for modeling a car for this week’s homework! You’re doing solid work @dragonice69. Your materials are reading pretty well although I’m not sure about the darker hood and doors..kinda resembles the matte material I demo’d but it’s as reflective as the purple.

However something does feel off. Part of me wonders if the car model is slightly under-detailed for realism. Or perhaps it’s the lighting situation. I did some googling for photos of the FIAT 126p to compare:

                          Image result for fiat 126p

I also think the environment is working better in the photo where the vehicle feels better integrated into the scene – obviously, it’s a photo. But in your render the car and ground feel noticeably separate elements.

This photo also reveals that there are some details missing that could make a difference: Door handles, the dark trim at the bottom of the door between wheels, side orange light above the front wheel, interior trim detail on the side windows, windshield wipers, license plate.. I’ve found that leaving details like this out often means realism isn’t going going to happen no matter how good the materials are.

Now I know you were creating this from scratch and likely didn’t (and still don’t) have time for building all the details. And it IS possible to make a simple / stylistic render out of vehicles of this detail level. Take these for example, from Manu Jarvinen:

                          Image result for manu jarvinen

Still very appealing but also an intentional step way from realism. You could go this direction as well.

@theluthier Hey. Thank you for your feed back. I don’t know if you missed renders on top of the thread. On first two I admit that lightning wasn’t to good maybe and I know my model is not ideal. I am going to fix it. Probably after this month cause of intense learning flow with this class and pumpkin contest. But I will! That’s for sure. It was my first idea when I found CG Cookie, what I would like to make ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh. On top there is my LM aswell ๐Ÿ™‚

@dragonice69 My apologies, I did miss the images posted a the top – my bad! You’ve done good work this week. Your final vehicle render is better! And your light match is very close indeed. Good stuff. It’s an A from me this week ๐Ÿ‘
