      Week 3 Homework submission

Hello i already posted my melvin on sketchfab months ago… Here is the link: https://skfb.ly/6vSGn

For this week i tried to do the melvin again with the primitives and…. an elephant !
Yes it wasn’t asked but… at the begining i wanted to create a scene with melvin and an elephant i thought i can add the human and the primitives after…
However…i badly manadged my time for this submission so… Here is the result (far from what i’ve done for the others weeks)
I think i’ll do better next week.

I’ve noticed a little problem with shadows in 2.8… they are a little bit tricky here… I dont know why but the shadow of the elephant and the cone are… Under the “ground”… I dont know why :/

@galledark  I’ve noticed some quirks too with shadows and ambient occlusion in Eevee.  There are some things that seem not quite right about them.

Nice work in any case. 🙂

@galledark I love that you put all your sculpts from the week into a singular render. Lol angry Melvin riding an elephant takes the cake! Kudos for the Eevee render too.

Minor notes: The cone is a bit too bullet-like and your Melvin sculpt’s pose is a little flat, where all the limbs are fixed on the same front-facing plane. Overall though it’s an A+ for the week 👏

Thanks kent for the grade and the critique 🙂

                        Week 4 Homework submission :

Hi i decided to challenge myself against my worst enemy: Time !
i had only 6 hours to create a charmeleon, retopologize it texture them and put them into a scene…
Into 6 hours i was only able to sculpt it and retopologize it.
I made the texture and the scene the next day.
                        Here is the result:
Yeah the landscape and the texture are very basic. i decided to not put too much time on it because for me the challenge was to realise it into 6 hours and not let myself another day to make it complete.

@galledark In my opinion sculpting and retopoing anything in six hours is an achievement. What did you use as a texture? It looks funny in a good way

                            @swikni Thanks a lot ^^
The texture i used is a procedural texture, the varonoï 🙂
i used it in combinaison with the vertex paint to create two different area (The red skin and the white for the chest and the claws)

                            Here is the material:
Dont hesitate to ask any questions if you need some explanations i know it seems a little bit confusing ^^’

@galledark That’s a lot of work in 6 hours – nice job, Yannis! Really cool interpretation of the Charmeleon design. Also kudos on the procedural voronoi material. It’s an A in my book! Way to finish the class strong 👍

Late to the party.  Nice sculpt from what I can tell.  If you’re going for a kind of scaly texture, I think the voronoi is too big in the cell sizes.  I wonder what it would look like if it was smaller.  Good work for 6 hours.

@theluthier Thanks kent i will continue to go deeper and faster into sculpt.
I think thats the method i prefer 🙂
