      HOMEWORK SUBMISSION WEEK 3

Well this was a journey. A journey to truly discover how  useless my GPU is. When CPU rendering is faster by a landslide, you got a problem.

Overall I’m quite proud  of what I’ve created, most of my problems stem from the materials not being great or the sculpting being a bit haphazard (though I had to turn down the multiresolution so they looked much better initially) but I think with the time I had and my level of experience I did a good job.

I also meant to render this one but it crashed during the night so an OpenGL will have to do:

Sketchfab link goes here. Well it would, if it would upload. Taking approximately an eternity so I’ll edit this post when it finally works. Had to disable all solidify modifiers and tone down the subsurf and multiresolution even more to get it on so apologies if it isn’t the smoothest.

EDIT: Here it is for now: https://skfb.ly/6zTCW Not entirely sure why but the front seats are missing, but I think I’ve fixed it and will update when it’s properly done. Though in terms of topology they’re the exact same as the back seats.

Overall this was a great exercise, I just hope I’m in time for grading, stream stuff etc before next week begins. Wish you all the best in this week and the next!

@silentheart00 Could you provide a download link to your scene file? I’d like to try and fix that during the stream today.

@silenthans Fantastic progress! Your shapes are smooth, edges/details are crispy.  I underestimated the time it would take on my interior and thus I’m not finished either. But I know the kind of effort it takes to get this far and given the high quality, you’ve earned an A this week 👍

@jack07 Nice job, Jack. The HUD textures are a great touch. Overall the interior reads slightly simplified, to your point about not having enough time, but the HUD makes that less noticeable. And the style still matches the rest of your vehicle. You’ve still earned an A in my book 👍

@doulos4iesou Yes, I’d like everyone to sculpt another vehicle – ideally a unique design not based on explicit reference/blueprints. I’ll go over the details of the assignment in the stream today.

@mrdojo Haha I felt that way at the end of the yesterday, after I’d spent hours modeling a few interior details 😅

@michallis Absolutely beautiful work, Michallis. The whole vehicle turned out great. All those details are 🤩

I noticed a little faceting in the sketchfab that seems like an easy fix:

Looks like too many edges cut in the region resulting in noticeable facets/ridging. It’s a small note. Besides that this is top-quality. Awesome job: A 👏

@thecabbagedetective Ugh twice I’ve uploaded it to Sketchfab now and there’s been issues. Hopefully third time’s the charm.

@thecabbagedetective What. A. Result! Seriously, this turned out so well. The lighting and materials take it an extra mile too. So many details in all corners of this interior. It’s impressive that you were able to build so many. You clearly put a LOT of work in this week.

My one note is that the leather sculpt details aren’t reading great, which you mentioned. But it’s a minor note given the quality of everything else. You’ve earned an A+ for sure! 👏

@theluthier Thank you very much! Yeah there were some good ones like stretching around the corners of the seats but the decreased multiresolution made them disappear, and only left the ugly ones (which, to be fair, shouldn’t have been there to begin with). I presume you saw but just in case I finally uploaded it to sketchfab with one… “minor” flaw if you were interested in seeing it, I put it in my original post.

I must’ve worked at least 8 hours every day for the past week on this, so much so I haven’t really had much time to do anything else haha. Well, this is what 5 months of studying Blender has got me so I’m really looking forward to what the incoming years have to offer, thank you once again!

@csehz Whoops, nearly missed this one in the shuffle. Good work, Zsolt! Interiors are a ton of work as I’ve learned first hand this week as well. Indeed the shapes are a little on the simple side, but they’re still comprehensive (pedals, shifter, console, steering wheel, etc). It’s an A in my book 👍

Hi, I’ve finish the car exterior modeling. What do you think about it ? Thanks for your comments

                              @martinlisen Holy f-…

Like don’t get my wrong, the modeling is top notch, but the materials and presentation just makes this… just *so* good. I’ll be honest, I’m jealous as hell, but this is an amazing job. How long you been doing Blender?

@martinlisen Love it! One minor note: In can see some imperfections in the surface of the car (almost impossible to avoid), you could try changing the highlights a bit with Photoshop.
