          hello @theluthier

again with work i wont be able to follow full class today(still gonna try to sneak out for 5 or 10 minutes to take a fast look at the class live stream). trough i looked forward to watch it today.
i hope i can ask the questions i have here . Or maybe you can think of it like i been asking it during class and answer them there xD.

1)for blender 2.8  is there a way in sculpting to assign a key ? like for inflate its i etc that you choose the keys themself ?
if so how do you do that ?
2)what video’s are best to watch for retopology my eevee ? i watched the course already of the robo orb but i wonder if there are other courses that are important to watch before i do retopology on the eevee.
3)the eevee model would it be good enough to use this and retopo bone it etc to animate or should i resculpt certain area’s ?
4)i know this might be beyond this course but take eevee’s fur. when i retopo them should i divide the fur is certain parts or make it one whole fur object ? later for animation i am not sure what choice would be best.
5)with gesture sculpting you first have the blockout then add some more shape and then refine details.
i wonder what is a maximum time limit you should set for youreself ? and how far should we go with refine the details ?
i tryed a mewtho but wonder if i should added more details or did perhaps too much for gesture sculpting (like the second time i needed 35minutes for further details on the hand and refining the body shape etc

i think these are the questions i have so far

@csehz Thanks for graph-ifying that question from the stream! It confirms that members taking our classes are more professionally-minded about their Blender / 3D education than the average member. Which makes sense I suppose, after all the format is designed to be a more serious 4-week learning period..though I am a little surprised it was 80%. I thought for sure it’d be more 60/40 or 50/50 with more people doing it like you, purely out of enjoyment/love.

@yukinoh1989 We’ll miss you in the stream! But no worries, I’m happy to answer your questions the best I can.

              1. I just tested and while there is the option to add a key (right click on the brush and choose Assign Shortcut) it doesn’t seem reliable. I added “I” to the Inflate brush (which is grouped with the Blob brush) and it didn’t switch from Blob to Inflate as expected.

              2. After the orb retopo video, I’d say the retopo section of the Piero course is appropriate and/or Jonathan Williamson’s pilot character retopo.

              3. From what I can tell, your Eevee sculpt will work great as a rigged, animatable character once you retopologize.

              4. I’d probably retopo the fur as one solid object based on the sculpture I’m seeing. Alternatively you could make the fur actual particle hair (like real hair) but that’s a pretty complex option. I’ve always received questions about doing an animal fur/hair course…maybe I should sooner rather than later.

              5. Details are not important at all with gestural sculpting. I’d say 25-40% of a sculpture is my limit. And the time depends on your relative speed. Maybe start with 30 minutes for your first gestural sculpt, 25 minutes for your second, 20 min for your third, 10 min for your fourth. The whole idea is to learn to sculpt faster and more sketch-like, resulting in a better understanding of general form.

@smurfmier1985 I’m so happy that you’ve managed to finish him. 🙂 I’m rendering the updated version now (there were couple more adjustments I squeezed in). And there might even be an easter egg…

                  THUS ENDETH THE CLASS

What a month! For the first time we tried individual homework threads and the communication was off da chain. Some of you have gone from beginner to impressive intermediate in only 4 weeks! While the more experienced shared endlessly their knowledge and advice all month. We beat Blender 2.8 to a pulp and STUFF WAS MODELED, amiright?!

Consistency: Out of 38 total members that submitted homework, 17 submitted all 4 weeks. It’s a significant commitment and I want to commend those members:

This Community: With each class, this community shines brighter and brighter. Maybe it’s always been this way and the truth of which is simply being revealed more with each class. But I never see this so evident as in these classes workshops. The quality of question answering, advice, and encouragement is unparalleled if you ask me. Since you’re awesome, we all learn better. Thank you!

Volunteer Instructor’s Assistants: 3 galant members heeded the official call and proved themselves very valuable resources to this class and to me – while 2 others earned honorary VA status in my book. Thank you, VA’s!

Highest Grade: Aaron Rudderham and Miranda van Elst take home the most cookies this month with 195 XP! Remember to check Zolt’s Report Card to see how you did, if you like. Reminder that I calculated the total value for everyone based on this scale: F/- = 0, D = 10, C = 20, B = 30, A = 40, + = 5. I will manually be applying individual XP totals to your account in the next 24 hours.

NOTE: If you see that I missed a grade, please let me know – I want you to get all the XP you’ve earned.

Your Feedback is important! In an effort to improve the class experience and give you a chance to cast your votes for classes in 2019, please take a few minutes to fill out this questionnaire. I would greatly appreciate it 🙇🏻‍♂️

Thanks for joining BC1-1808! See you in October for the next one 😎

                    @theluthier Another successful class done!

It was a good un’ too, well done to everyone for sticking it through, whilst I haven’t been here long it’s amazing to see how far along we’ve all come. To see people who’d barely touched Blender prior to the class being able to confidently model and sculpt their own projects by the end is one helluva turnaround.

Questionnaire filled out, too. Really looking forward to the future of the classes – I mean workshops – and CG Cookie in general. It was a pleasure modeling alongside you all, and I look forward to where your interests in CG take you. With that being said, I’ll (hopefully) catch you all again come October and I hope you all have a good one. Peace.

@theluthier hey thanx for the answers.  just followed the retopo of pierro it seems to be fun . just hope i get it right seems really important. gonna watch the pilot one tomorrow since its bed time. after i fainted the dokter strictly adviced to put lesser stress on the Brain.  not a burn out seems i just had too much Brain activiteit what cause muscle pain around the Brain.and the stress at work was getting too high sadly that caused the faint. For my eevee i noticed youre eyes are round. now since eevee is a Pokémon should i make them round too or not ? at this moment i sales the sphere to be pretty flat.

i also would love to see the animale fur tutorial so ill look forward to it.

also gonna keep an eye to see when i can watch the end of the class live session.

it was really fun . i am sure we all felt this way. now its up to us to even improve further

again thank you so much as well as all members for helping out 😀

On Blender 2.8.. I think the idea is that if you’re on another tool group, using the hotkey for the group would pull the active, while a second press would cycle through, though as we noted, it doesn’t loop on that cycle (which,  don’t mind the cycle as long as they looped it). So, for example, if you’re using the clay group and have clay strips as your active for that group and want to switch to the inflate group (with inflate as the “active” of the group), pressing i would switch to that group with inflate as the active. Then pressing c would make the clay group with the strips as the active.  I think that’s the intent.  As we’ve seen, it’s not always consistent on this behavior, but since it’s still in Alpha and they’re focused on showstoppers (ie things that crash), I’m going to be patient and wait.

Either way, it is even easier to click on the one you want than it used to be and I like the sculpting workspace they have now.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything @thecabbagedetective said, it’s been a pleasure doing this workshop with you guys! Very inspiring seeing what everyone made, learned a lot from all your feedback and all the encouragement everyone gives is so motivating. It’s been a blast!! 😁

Also filled out the questionnaire of course 😊 -> @theluthier I noticed I didn’t get that whole list with the many many awesome options for future workshops to choose from, the one you showed in the livestream, or did I misunderstood that this list would be in the questionare?

Now, if you all would excuse me, I got one Ratchet and Clank over here waiting for me to spend some time with them 😎

Have a great day everyone, see you all in October for the next one! 😃

Have to thank you all for this month. It was first time I participate in event like this and it’s fun, motivating and inspiring. It’s so cool when you are learning along with a group of people, you see their work, they see yours, both giving advices etc. I subscribed to CGCookie for prerecorded courses, but here is where gold was buried! And it’s very cool to have a communication with english speaking community by the way.

                                PS: @theluthier wut? 😀

PPS: 2765 posts on this thread + all homework threads if I counted right. And it’s 216,86% of previous class thread.

@nekronavt I must agree. I actually didn’t know there were live classes when I signed up to CGCookie. The moment I found out about them I RSVP’d to every scheduled one. I think it’s great and while self learning is good it’s also sometimes good to have the motivation that only a class with homework can provide.

The community here is great and so rare for me to see such a positive community on the internet of all places.
