      THE MISTERY IS SOLVED!!! (…at least it works for now!)

      Under “View Layer properties” I had checked “Render Single Layer”, so I unchecked it and all frames are rendering correctly!

      However now I need to go through the user manual to really understand what this checkbox is really for…

      Anyway – thanks to everyone who responded and tried to help!
