Alright I have been on the research mill and have come to a fairly certain conclusion regarding the location and placement- orientation of the Cornerstone.

But first, a little background history:
“In the past, buildings were designed and built in relation to certain astronomical points of the compass. Ancient cultures believed that the position of heavenly bodies regulated life, fortune, and success; therefore, Cornerstones were commonly placed facing the North East because it was thought this location would bring harmony and prosperity to the building and its owners. The ancient civilizations often performed a ceremonial ritual when the Cornerstone was placed.” as found here: https://www.billwarch.com/blog/the-little-known-purpose-of-the-cornerstone/

Based on Omar’s blueprint & the shadow direction given from the Sun (travels from the East-to-West) it would appear that the Cornerstone would go here (The North East Corner) which makes sense for the front of the house. It’ll go at the base of the foundation (probably covered):
I covered this with the Spice Baron leaders and I am pretty certain this is the location but I’ll get confirmation tomorrow.

The next major question is what do we as a group of Free Craysons place inside the Corner Stone to place as a tribute? I’m thinking either an insignia from the team or an object that represents us (like a construction/mason tool(s) perhaps one for the carpentry and one for the masonry?

We’ll want to also allow each team to place a tribute to bless the building with.

Doing a quick reality check : I’m considering the foundation stones (H) to form the perimeter of the house, with the interior being hollow with, say, a wooden floor being the visible part inside. Does that sound reasonable? The alternative would be to extend it to the whole surface, but that would seem like a very difficult thing to construct in practice, to get anything flat.

Here’s the snippet from the live stream regarding the naming convention for our files:
So, our team files should look something like this, agreed?
          house-ext-front_asset_##_username.blend

          For mine it would be:
          house-ext-front_foundation_01_blanchsb.blend

          How does that sound?

Sometimes it is just a matter of checking the Self checkbox. (there are other things that can go wrong, but try the easy ones first).

Hi everyone! Qpola reporting for some chiseling duty. I will attempt to contribute to the wooden beam asset and was wondering if there is any way to get access to the high res reference picture, which Kent talked about. The one that is on the Google Drive.

@jakeblended and @matbev let me know if you want to align on the work for this asset.

A quick note for everyone doing the wainscotting part, you might want to search references using the keyword wood board sliding exterior and if you’re looking for wear and tear, try reclaimed wood.

Oh and I found this interesting approach to wood sculpting that I will be trying. (For anyone wanting a strict blender pipeline, the treasure chest course gives more than enough to go on).

                See you soon 😉

                        Does that help?

Woah that is a great question.

There are blueprints on the Collab Google Drive that Omar has drafted up already.

I believe there is a sub level already considered in the design.

Our job is to try to make sense of all of that. We may need to collaborate with the House Interior group to get clarification on the interior but my quick though is let’s focus on the exterior perimeter. There’s plenty to tackle there.

I’ve experienced that the “Fast” calculation often delivers better results  when cutting the roof tiles than the “Exact” calculation which may sound a little bit strange 😉😁.
