@louhikarme nice chest! The details look great, and I love the handle on the lid to open it. I think you are indeed ready for texturing ๐Ÿ˜€

@louhikarme This is an exquisite result of the treasure chest project. The details are truly some visual candy. All of it is ๐Ÿ’ฏ but the hardware detail is glorious. Really great work, Kaj. A+ in my book. Cannot wait to see this thing textured ๐Ÿคฉ

@theluthier thank you! will have something ready for next homework for sure. still battling on making a bigger scene or not. i prolly keep it simple though since i have another project aswell that i need to finish and that one is beast to unwrap compared to this chest. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love how you stuck with all of the concepts of the chest but made it your own.  I work in IT so I can totally relate to “Scope Creep”.  Sometimes it is just hard to slow the creative brain down.

@notcastanza Thanks, the metal pieces were the hardest thing to “break down” so i would need to do minimal amount of denting to them and still maintain uniqueness when rotating them. i also work in it field on dayjob. ๐Ÿ™‚

@louhikarme man, now that I’ve messed around a little bit with UV maps and know a tiny bit about them, it’s really cool to see yours!!

Decided to zoom into the chest more. the lighting needs still bit more work.

i’ll post shader stuff here bit later, once i’ve cleaned up them. ๐Ÿ™‚

@louhikarme Kaj I’m conflicted about your project. On one hand I LOVE that you incorporated the tropical Eevee environment! On the other hand I feel like your chest model was headed in a more realistic/detailed direction which would have done the chest more justice in my opinion.

Of course this could have been your intention the whole time (forgive me if you stated that and I missed it). But my expectations were high to see a wonderfully detailed texture to accent your chest model. What you have is more simplified and stylistic. The metal texture looks good but the wood is particularly simple by comparison. It looks like the brown only has lightened edges but no wood grain variation in the brown tone.

I don’t mean to rain on your parade. I probably just had the wrong expectations. Even if I didn’t expect this texture style, again I really like that you incorporated the tropical environment. It’s an A from me ๐Ÿ‘
