@swikni YESSS!!! Love that motion blur touch for this scene. Well done, Jere. Sorry to hear motion blur was a no go with Eevee..wonder what that was about.

          Homework submission week 2

Something like this has been in my mind for the cover of a Spotify playlists I have. Modeling somehing with 2.8 seemed to be a good opportunity to think it through in practice. Some parts were pretty painful because the lack of add-ons like f2 but that was just a speed bump like modifiers not showing in edit mode. In my opinion the models turned out pretty well and now I have way more clearer vision of the final version that I’m going to make in 2.79

Here’s one of my favorite instrument combinations: piano and violin

@swikni Beautiful! I love music, you got good taste, those two can create wondeful music together. It looks so authentic, well modeled! 😄

@swikni that looks very nice, great work specially on the violin is hard to get that shape right,

@swikni Very good looking, nice details. Love how keys are pushed down by violin, though not sure if in reality violin’s weight is enough for this.

                    Thanks for the feedback!

@nekronavt You’re right about that. I wasn’t too sure how much the violin pushes those keys down or does it at all. It’s just always an awful thought that everything in the scene looks weightless and obstacles just hover on top of each other

@swikni I don’t have much to say other than…what a beautiful job. Classy instruments, classy modeling. Not easy models either. Awesome work, Jere: A++ 👏

                          Week 3 Homework

I tried to sculpt the primitives with 2.8 and for some reason it felt so horrible that after half an hour I just had to quit. The menus and hotkeys didn’t work for me at all and of course I tried to figure them out but.. there wasn’t any logic I guess.

The primitives went down pretty basic, nothing too amazing there and I was planning to make Melvin again but to be honest I stuck maybe too much playing Starcraft 2 this week lol.

In the head sculpt I had some hard time with the eyelids and for some reason the ear just didn’t come to me at all. Luckily they seem to be pretty decent in the final render and I’m happy with the ending result

Here’s my old Melvin, primitives and head:

                            @swikni Good stuff!

Your ear looks perfectly fine to me, form-wise.  I think probably the only thing I would do is rotate it a little – top half toward the left, bottom to the right, to make it more vertically-straight – and then maybe move it and the jawline leading up to it a little closer to the front of the head, but of course heads are different so that isn’t necessarily so.  But you achieved a realistic form there, don’t worry.

@swikni Good work.  The lighting on the head is a little subtle, so it’s hard to see the details you sculpted.

@swikni Great job Jere! Is it a self portrait? Look a bit like you 😊

@jakeblended Oh yeah you are right! The angle of the ear was difficult since I’m not bold and not too willing to cut my hair lol. I’ve should have checked some images of bold people to get the basics even but was too stuck in the pictures of my own head duh.

@silentheart00 Absolutely, the jaw  for example is almost invisible because of the lighting. Maybe baking AO map would do the trick also.

@smurfmier1985 Yes I used pictures of me as a reference. I was so uncertain of the looking alike thing but it’s nice to hear that there is even something that matces in there. Thanks!
