@bsdwerbeagentur  Why thanks! Lighting has always been my weakness so even on simple things like this I really try to make it *pop*, per se.

@aaltuvem Well according to the rules I’m not allowed to texture it for the class, only simple materials, but there’s certainly nothing stopping me from texturing it after the class is finished. Maybe a small project on the side? Either way, ta for the feedback!

@thecabbagedetective Excellent job, Aaron. This has the same charm as Belle’s small town in the animated Beauty and the Beast. I love that charm. Good tip about the snap tool. Hope I didn’t breeze over that too fast in the stream..

BUT since you used Cycles instead Eevee….lol nah that’s totally fine. Easily an A, sir. You already did the official primitives exercises I assume?

@theluthier  Yeah I did that a while back, maybe I should post that for comparison? But I just wanna say this isn’t actually my finished homework, I just like to do daily updates like I did in last class. I still have more things to add, so should I keep doing that now I’ve been graded? ‘Cause I wanna use my homework to my full potential, both for personal growth and to help others.

@thecabbagedetective Oh whoops, I missed that the first image was a WIP. Heh well sure, keep pushing it further if you’d like! There’s room for 1 or 2 +’s to be tacked on to your grade 👍

                        Day 2 done!

Damn am I looking forward to this coming together. Built another – admittedly more simplistic – building along with a path and a few pieces of clutter:

Pro tip: if you’re gonna be duplicating a lot of geometrically identical objects then use Alt+D as opposed to Shift+D, this does two things:

A – Makes it so that editing one edits them all, so if you add a material or move vertices in edit mode it’ll affect them all (though do note object mode geometry manipulation only affects that specific one).

B – Decreases memory used, which will allow your viewport to run faster (if/when it starts to get hectic) and for your scene to render quicker.

Looking at it longer the second building looks considerably more bare than the other, I definitely intend to improve that. Gonna be uploading the file when I’m done so y’all can have a poke around if you are so well inclined, but for now that’s a day!

@thecabbagedetective That’s a great tip! Didn’t know that. Definitely going to use that from now on. Thanks Aaron for sharing 😊

Also, I love how your scene is coming together. Love the little lights in there, that’s a nice touch. The road looks great! I’ll be looking forward to your update tommorow to see some more of this good stuff!

@smurfmier1985 Yeah that tip has possibly saved me hours in render time haha, and ta for the feedback!
