The story goes, that when admiral Nelson was shot at the battle of Trafalgar, it was decided to bury him at land and to conserve his body, it was put in a barrel of rum. Now the ordinary seamen didn’t know about this and went on with their custom to drill a small hole in the barrel and suck out the rum through a straw.

Since then, in sailor’s slang, rum is called ‘Nelson’s blood’.

I’ve been using Blender for about six years and still have never modelled a barrel; time to change that.

@silentheart00 I know, I hope it’s not inappropriate…

I have a slight Asperger’s syndrome, so it’s sometimes difficult for me to figure out what I can write;)

Anyway, I really like the old look of the reference. I think it will be a lot of fun to try and recreate that.

@spikeyxxx Hey, I completely understand. One of my best friends has Asperger’s, so it’s no problem. I enjoyed the small tale, just wasn’t expecting it to be so dark. Regardless, I enjoyed it.

And yeah! Going to be great texture work on that barrel!

That story… ☠️ Fits the medieval/pirate theme perfectly! Haha definitely not inappropriate.

Wonderful start to the model. I had a lot of fun with the barrel. Texturing like that reference image will be fun too.

Sort of finished the barrel, although I will probably re-do it one more time…now that I know how to do it , that will take me less than an hour.

Started on the environment.

In case you are wondering, the wood of the barrel is of a really high quality, dried for at least two years; it won’t crack! Now, this is going to be stylized, but I can’t ignore that fact.

The rest of the wood will show alteration.
