@theluthier Thanks for the input Kent, yeah the wood on the chest was kind of deliberate choice, as i didn’t want the wood to be lacquered having been in the ocean i wanted it to be pretty diffuse, the metal I agree, i struggled to get the right level of reflection I didn’t want it to be too shiny but i probably under did it overall
The biggest question I have though is what’s on the floor board. Right now it reads more like paint, but if it’s supposed to be water
Yeah it was supposed to be water like a puddle, I really struggled with this and I couldn’t put my finger on what was wrong with it but now you have said it, it does look like paint. It was a mixture of your tutorial in the Treasure Chest course and one of Andrew Price’s on Puddles in Blender, i could not for the life of me get this to work together and one is probably overiding the other.
Would you be willing to let me download your final .blend to possibly mess around with the material during the stream tomorrow?
Of course that would be great, any insight into this process would be greatly appreciated. Here is the the link:

Please let me know if there is any problem downloading the link.
Homework Submission – Week 3

Week 3 – WIP 1

@theluthier thank Kent your classes and courses are always my favourite and have learned so much. Yeah i’m hoping that blender will eventually get closer to Substance too.
Just wait till this texture is working in concert with a material
Yeah i am looking forward to that too and have quite a few ideas of where to go with it, materials and shading i feel have been a weakness of mine for a long time, and really looking forward to learning more.
Anything i could have done done better or differently to improve on it would be a great help.
Thanks everyone, I had fun with this one, and learned a lot about using eevee, still not a big fan of blenders texture paint workflow, substance painter is still my go too program but it was fun.
@spikeyxxx thanks a lot
Homework – Week 2

Week 2 – WIP 2
Base colour added

For the Scratches and extra details created my own brushes which made adding some finer detail a lot easier
Close up of the wood grain which i feel could do with some better definition and the scratches

Week 2 – WIP 1
Unwrapping done, was difficult to get the frame parts of the model to have no stretching on the UVs, so had to separate them into there own islands.
@theluthier Thank you so much for the input
@spikeyxxx thank you so much, that means a lot 🙂
