You don’t need to add an empty and use snapping – you can use the Insert Visual keyframe options to keyframe the child’s transform after constraints have been applied, this keeps it in the right location when you turn off the ChildOf constraint.

Holy Cow Shane. You are right. Where were you when I was recording this!? haha.
I think I’ll have to do an update to this video as I don’t want to pass on any of my bad habits 🙁
        Thanks for letting me know.

I haven’t had much luck with visual keyframes when it comes to an object switching parent constraints when both parents are moving, so I’ve still been doing it the good ‘ol fashioned way like in the video or just manually moving/rotating things into place.

I’m curious too – do you think this only really works when switching from a moving object to a stationary object (or the world), or am I missing out on a cool trick?

When I use the trick to “Align to transofrm oirientation”  the box rotates and the empty rotates but the box should not rotate.

              Can you help me ?

                Hey Sergo,

Can you post this as its own question with a video of what you’re trying to do?

Seeing this can really help to know the cause of the issue.
Make sure you @ mention me (@waylow)
