Sup guys! I’m a newbie here on CG Cookie and just wanna share my progress on the pumpkin contest.

Halloween’s around the corner and i didn’t got around to do something for it until now, so this contest seems like the perfect opportunity;)

Sculpted this pumpkin yesterday and will start carving on it tomorrow. I also want to create a few other assets to make the scenery more interesting and give everything a cartoonish touch. Let’s see how it goes from here!

@thepingdelf hey. I am retopologying the pumpkins now. Going slow but I do my best.

@yukinoh1989 Oh! I also did the retopo this morning! 

Yeah, Retopo is suuper slow. Theres addon called bsurface for blender that makes things a bit easier in combination with a shrinkwrap modifier and bridge edge loops. It really helped me, so its worth checking out!

@thepingdelf is it compatible with 2.8 ? gonna check it out didnt use that yet or the shrinkwrap are there good tutorials that explain how to do that ?

@yukinoh1989 Almost no addons are compatible with 2.8, only the node wrangler, so I wouldn’t count on it… shrinkwrap is covered in the introduction to retopoligy course, the one with the orb.

@thepingdelf Very nice shape, I like it, Nice topology, ! I’m curious about the way you did the ‘twisted’ tail, is it with a modifier ?

@nabro I used a curve + a cylinder for the basic shape and sculpted in the spiral around the base shape. But now that you mention it, this effect could maybe actually be achieved by rotating the curve points(?) Well, there will always be a next timexD
