      When you first selected the Edge Ring around the eye all of the faces were also selected. This seems to be the necessary means by which to use Inset Faces because trying to do the Edge Ring with just edges selected, which is how the rest of the examples were shown, doesn’t allow the Inset Faces to work. How did you get the faces to be selected when you first demonstrated the Edge Ring?

        I swear I hit Alt & selected faces to no avail. Now it’s working. Maybe I need to go to bed. Sure wish I could delete questions I answer myself.

          However, I just noticed you were in vertex mode when you selected the whole ring. I was only able to do it in face select mode. Again, how did you do that?
