when I pin my uv when I unwrap again it goes back to what it was before. am I doing something wrong?

once I like what I see, do I erase the uv grid or… do I add another material to this mesh and assign in edit mode to keep the uv lay for the pixel density I like for my image texture.

Are you trying to ‘lock’ UVs so you can’t change them once you’re happy with them?

YES, Because once I get the uvs corrected I have to add an image so I hit unwrap then it goes back to what it was.
