What is the Benefit of AAC Audio Codec?

Is there a special benefit of choosing the AAC audio codec instead of for example MP3?

Not that I have found.  These days most players are compatible with most codecs but sometimes there are exceptions. 

AAC is the one that I have had least trouble with in the past  (“Great animation Wayne but the audio is not working”)

@duerer AAC is Apple’s answer to MP3. It has a lossy compression, but has better sound quality than MP3 at the same bit-rate.

Also, sometimes Apple products do not accept MP3.

AAC was design to be the successor to MP3 and AC3. Multiple companies including Sony, Philips, JVC Kenwood, Panasonic, Bell Labs, and Dolby labs contributed to it’s creation. It was adopted as an international movie standard in the late 1990.(96 I think.) It is also one of the very few codex that is lossless and can be used for both music production and telephony apps which makes it great for digital TV and streaming.
