What can motion paths be applied to?

I went back to the interpolation exercise and tried to add motion paths to its bones. It did not work. Does motion paths only map how an object’s origin changes position over time?

When you want to apply motion paths to a bone, you need to do it in the armature (data) tab.

If you map them to the object, it will display the movement of the object container and not the bones.
