Try the circle select! :) works better for me.

I find it useful to use the circle select for some cases, hope it helps someone to work faster:
1) activate it with the “c” key while in edit mode

2) adjust your radar with the mouse wheel

3) hold left click like if it was a brush and pass it through the points you want to select

4) finish your selection with right click

This is so very true. The shapes are circular so it makes sense to use the circle select. I tend to forget to use it all the time. Great tip.
