Tried to get 2.66 to work but it crashes on opening every time. So that solution is out. So now, I’m guessing there’s really no way to Texture Paint a bump map using 2.78b?? There HAS to be a workaround!

It crashes when opening? That’s the first time I’ve heard of that. I’ve never run into older Blender versions not working. Though I guess that makes sense – surely there’s a limit to the concept of reverting backward to older versions of Blender.

In 2.78b and higher you create a Bump texture slot and it creates the right kind of texture for you to begin painting the bump, as I did in this course.

Ha! Wow, this is ooooold, Kent. I did however eventually figure out the “create a bump texture slot” workaround. It was a happy accident too. Thanks for getting back to me…8 years later. LOL. I’m just giving ya a hard time bro. Speaking of this course though, I’m rigging him now, and I took you up on your suggestion to go through Nathan’s “Humane Rigging” course. Man, that was SO GREAT, I learned a tremendous amount by sticking it out to the end. Thanks for suggesting it. (Gratitude thermometer just popped!)
