texture problem

Hi, I cannot get the image to hover over the pancake in the 3D viewport after I have synced everything up in the texture settings. Wondering how to fix this thanks.

@littlemach007 You’re sure you’re using Stencil as the texture type?

yes hi again, so when i first open up the texture painting I dont have anything selected and it says Missing Materials. when i click on the add paint slot i just have options like normal, warp, displace, etc. so I just chose normal at first and then I followed your instructions on setting up the stencil, and everything worked fine like creating the stencil and loading the images into the texture panels, but I still couldn’t get the pancake photo to hover in the 3d viewport 

Also I noticed that when I switch to texture painting I dont have a little circle that appears around the cursor? could that have something to do with it?
