Summer Fun Challenge 2021 WIP – Red Dwarf

The seed is a part of the title song:

   ‘I want to lie, shipwrecked and comatose,

            drinking fresh mango juice,

     goldfish shoals, nibbling at my toes,

  fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun….’

I don’t know yet what flower will grow out of this, but the process will certainly be fun 😉

Decided to go for a Playmobil scene, partly, because I can’t do more realistic characters yet 🙂

Started with the main character:

Had a problem making the hair, but then, after having struggled for a relatively long time, I thought of going into Sculpt Mode and, with the part of the head where the hair should come selected in Edit Mode, I used Face Sets > Face Set from Edit Mode Selection, followed by Extract Face Set.

Mind you, with the clothes, simple duplication and extrusion and scaling worked just fine, but with the head….

Red Dwarf! This is either Lister or Cat! Judging from the hair I would say Lister.

Only today I continued working on this; last days spend thinking about it and trying to visualize the scene, but now I finished most of the modeling, I think:

The tree leaves were a bit of a challenge to figure out, but I’m happy with the result:)

Still a minimal amount of texturing to be done (mainly the shirt) and placing everything where it should go.

Don’t think I will have time to do the spaceship, but we’ll see.

I love it! And when you’ve got a shirt like that no one can see the vindaloo stains! Or…are those all vindaloo stains… o_o;

Great job @spikeyxxx , I used to watch Red Dwarf all the time. I’m glad you had some fun creating this scene and enjoyed it as much as Lister is enjoying himself. Love the style you have gone with, nice shirt by the way 👍
