A quick tip that I use every time I use the VSE is to snap a clip to my time indicator or the beginning of the timeline (I’m pretty sure I picked it up from Wayne during Animation Bootcamp). With the clip (or all clips) you wish to move selected, hit “Shift + S”.

If you wish to snap to the beginning of the timeline just use the good ole “Shift + Left Arrow”, then “Shift + S”.
