Opening the project file and looking through camera view, it appears I have a box around the gizmo which limits how much of the scene is rendered. Also the background is pink for some reason. Is this all normal?

I think the reason why your curved plane (background) is pink is because you are missing the assigned texture image for that object. I’ve noticed that sometimes when you import someone else’s .blend project file and Blender can’t figure out the path(s) to textures or it’s missing certain image textures it replaces them with solid pink colour.

I had the problem and fixed it by UV unwrapping the background plane, creating a new texture and setting the ‘Generated Type’ to ‘UV Grid’. Then switch to the node editor, select the background plane object and you should see the node material setup for it. Point the image texture node to the material you just created and check rendered view in your viewport to see if it worked. I hope this helps.

When it comes to the weird box around the gizmo, I can’t really help. Maybe post a screenshot?

I had the same problem with the red-dotted-line box around the gizmo that restricted the rendering. I figured out if you use ctrl-B to box-select you can reset the area.

That did the trick. Nice going!

In the view tab of the properties menu (T) uncheck the render border box.

Hey I encountered the box render too! After a quick search I found that all you have to do is while in the 3d view, I think in render while in camera press ctrl+alt+B. It worked for me, hope it works for you!

This worked great. If you want to get the render border to stick to the camera bounds, this is what worked for me: Properties panel > Render tab > Dimensions > Check the box called “Border”

                        Awesome thanks for that!
