Ok, around 4:50 when you say “Let’s jump over to the node editor, and with my monkey selected I add a new material,” those two windows (or are they called nodes?) show up, but I’ve rewatched this part a dozen times now and copied your clicks, and those two windows are not showing up. Do they affect painting? I’m actually trying to get through the lesson that comes after this one, but when I paint on the right side of the screen, nothing shows up on the monkey, and I’m trying to figure out what’s wrong.

If you want to share your .blend on Sketchfab or post a screenshot to the gallery I will take a look.

I think I skirted the problem re painting somehow… I had to switch into texture painting mode in the left/monkey window before painting in the right hand UV window would take effect. I’m not sure why because in the following lesson Kent is definitely in object mode when he starts painting. As for the node editor question, those windows were actually there. I saw there was a “find node” function under select, and it found them. They were way off to the side and zoomed out so far they were just specks. So crisis averted 🙂
