Hello, I’ve recently started with animation, and performed some of the first training courses.

I am very happy with the result of my rocket launch, though I did not export the full animation because will take my old computer days.

But soon I will upgrade and join this learning route with more content.

Very happy to found this amazing place!

Looks good. Keep on plugging away. If you switch your renderer to EEVEE and under “view” do a “Viewport Render animation”, I’ve found that it produces an animation much faster. I too have an underpowered laptop that I’m learning on. I’m not entirely sold on EEVEE for lighting and textures yet, but then again, I really haven’t gotten into those feature fully. I am very excited at how quickly it will render animation though, so from the standpoint of seeing what I have, it’s a blessing.

And when I saw “much faster”… CYCLES would render 250 frames in 5-1/2 hours… EEVEE accomplished the same in under 2 minutes. So, yeah. From that standpoint I’m pretty impressed with EEVEE.

            Just food for thought

Scott, thanks a lot for your advice!

Tried it with some awesome results, rendering one of my frames under Eevee, took about 10 seconds, compared to 15 minutes under Cycles.

Now, I understand that Cycles gives a lot more of power and textures and stuff to the rendering, but with my PC I can export some basic animations using Eevee and keep learning this way. I will try to work my way to learn more about Engines so I can obtain better performance and better results.

For instance, I noticed that the fire effect that runs very smooth under Cycles, does not perform well at all under Eevee.

But I guess its the price to pay for faster render.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your comment and your advice, I will definately invest some time on learning more about this.

Best regards! Hope to connect more with you in this journey.

@javiherbar  … You’re correct about the price of faster animations; however, as you’ve mentioned, I too need to invest a bit more time in all the attributes of EEVEE. I’m on the same journey… learning. Glad to be of help.

If you’re really stuck on using CYCLES, you might look into becoming part of a render farm community, as using shared power it does get faster render results. But that’s not that necessary at this point. EEVEE will serve you well. It’s taken me some time to warm up to it, but I definitely like the speed; at least until I learn how to fully utilize it’s potential. I’m sure there’s another lesson on that somewhere amongst the CGCookie crumbs.

                Happy learning and modeling
