this happens with almost every course I’ve taken on here. do you guys plan on updating these courses? I do not know what to do half of the time.

which nodes are you missing? some nodes changed, some were removed so new ones replaced them in the latest versions of blender

          Hi Dustyn,

It is recommended to use the Blender Version used in the Course you are taking (until you are more experienced and won’t ‘care’ about the Version anymore).

Blender develops really fast and it is impossible to update all Courses 3 to 4 times a year, even without making new Courses. (Production of a Course from start to finish takes about 3 to 6 months and in the case of larger Courses (like HUMAN, for instance) can take years.)

The principles taught in the Courses haven’t changed.

If you insist on using the latest Version of Blender, you will just have to ask, if you can’t find something. But, as Martin @cgtin already mentioned, you’ll have to be more specific as to what you can’t find.

Yeah don’t worry, every tutorial you see anywhere it’s practically outdated overnight with the pace Blender development moves. It’s impossible to update videos as fast as Blender changes. So if you want to match what’s’ on screen, the solution is to have different Blender versions and use the one that you see they are using in the video. Core knowledge never changes, no matter the Blender version, it’s more UI and names changes most of the time, so you’ve got nothing to worry about, always using the latest Blender version it’s never necessary, productions tend to stick with older versions because they are the most polished out of bugs. So all that to say, just download the Blender version being used in the video and you’ll be fine.

              Hey @Dreno33,
All the different Blender versions should be considered as separate tools in learning CG/3D.
You need to prioritise learning the concepts of CG/3D, not the latest version of Blender.
The CG/3D concepts taught in all our courses are timeless across Blender versions, once you have a little more experience you will find the Blender version becomes less relevant to you.

You can download any version of Blender, don’t get hung up on Blender versions while learning CG/3D.
