      Hi,

I approached the exercise differently but I feel that it might be okay this way, I’m looking for feedback I cut the seems down the side rather than the back, I havn’t gotten to arranging the UV Map better yet. Feedback would be very appreciated!

          Hey @frostheart10,
Yes its ok not to cut down the back.
There is no hard rules to where to make the cuts, only that the cuts are placed where they won’t be seen as much as possible.
It can also depend on the texture, and positioning the cut with the seam on a pair of trousers for example.
But I don’t think Melvin owns a pair of trousers.

Exactly, there is no one right way to do UV’s, you can places them where they make the most sense and where they can’t be seen easily. You’re UV’s look good. For me, but that’s just me, I like to orient them so that the squares are not tilted like a diamond shape, I like them not rotated. But again, it’s personal preference because if I had to paint in the 2D texture, I don’t have to draw with the tilt in mind.
