When drawing in a mask, does the strength (opacity) need to be at a maximum setting to make an effective mask? If the opacity is at 50% wil the mask function just as well?

        Hi John,

it will probably be easiest, if you change the Sculpt Mask Overlay from 0.75 to 1.0, then it will be better to see how much effect the Mask has, but the Overlay doesn’t change how much effect the Mask has.

The Strength is what determines how strong the Mask Strokes are. A Strength of 0.5 will create a Mask Stroke that has only 50% effect.

Yeah exactly, the overlay is just a visualization in the viewport, a visual representation of the mask, not the functionality itself. And in a very Blender kinda way, it gives you lots of control on how you want your settings. Because maybe you don’t like how the model looks with a mask, so you can tone it down for your visual satisfaction. Now that I say that, I wonder if you can change the color of how the mask looks? Could be buried somewhere in the infinite sea of options.
