Learning through different versions of Blender?

While we all like courses to be updated I must say I still find value in courses made with 2.79 blender version, there are some gems hidden in older courses too and I still go back to look for some things sometimes, being said that updates are always welcome but do not discard value in older courses, I understand for beginners it is confusing but as one gets to know how to use blender also  gets to know how to associate concepts and what is where in newer versions, it is sad to see really good older courses gone just cause they are outdated and hehe new courses are always really nice to have

I agree with not letting the Blender version limit what tutorials you learn from. Although I think that becomes a lot easier once you’re at an intermediate level. 
As a beginner, when you’re just keeping your head afloat with what’s happening in the video, the small inconsistencies in shortcut keys or feature locations can bog you down a bit, wondering if you’ve stuffed something up. A pinned list of key changes, or even a wiki typed doc with the common ‘gotchas’ could be helpful. I think it’s the same ones that tend to pop up a lot.

i’ll also say once u learned! the basics atleast. it wont be hard for u to switch btw diff versions like on my pc 2.8 is more stable so only go to newest version when i want to use specific tools like or so geometry nodes and so…. Learning with the version used in tutorial will make ur life much easier.

It would help though if in the text of the course intro the blender version is mentioned. So people can decide if they want to follow that course and to start with the right version. Not every teacher has the opening screen included with the version. 

If something doesn’t work i just google how it changed. For geometry nodes it sometimes is significantly different 

That issue with x or shift-x for switching colours has been an issue. Sometimes no combination at all seems to work
