Kent buddy, you’re gonna have figure something out to get this course to work well with 2.78. They have just changed Texture Paint so much that it’s near impossible to reproduce what you’re doing.

Yes, they’ve changed a lot about texture paint especially. But the thought of re-recording an old course makes me want to vomit.

It’s a constant frustration with teaching Blender: Software technicalities are quickly inconsistent when new versions come out, but is it worth it to re-record old content or record new stuff? We tend to go with new stuff, eventually removing obsolete courses from the library.

As for this particular course, while it’s certainly obsolete in technical Blender ways, we believe the birds-eye view (pun intended) is still valuable to learn from despite the software being out-dated.

Hopefully you can understand the rock and hard-place we’re in. I certainly understand how frustrating software inconsistencies in tutorials can be, and for that I apologize.

I absolutely get it bud! I think I’ve seen in other videos of yours where you simply added a text book in the original video telling the watcher things have changed. That’s a GREAT idea, and worked wonderfully! That might be an easy option.

Meant to say, “added a text BOX” in the original video. 🙂

Yes, frustrating that things have changed in Blender and I understand not wanting to repeat this tutorial. I’ve found a very helpful tutorial on YouTube by Darrin Lile called ‘Blender Character Texture Painting 1 of 6’. He uses Blender 2.72 which is more similar to my current version of Blender. Here’s a link to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr_itixx0Yo

Now I’ve learned Texture Painting basics from that I can get on with your next video. Great course Kent 🙂
