What could be causing my inset to act as 2 areas instead of 1 as the video shows? I believe I have selected the same faces as in the video, but when I inset I keep getting 2 insets — 1 upper and 1 lower area. Do I possibly have extra vertices or edges that I can’t see? I’ve select around each vertice, but merge vertices isn’t an option when I right click, which makes me think there are not multiple vertices.
‘Double Vertices” are indeed the most likely cause.
When you want to Merge ‘double Vertices’, you need to make sure that all are Selected.;use A to Select all, or switch to Wireframe Mode and then you can use Box Select (or Circle or Lasso Select).
Is merging in the right click button? Not sure but the hotkey is M and select merge by distance. Also you can may the inset set to “individual”. You can turn that off with “I” I believe.
