In the video ‘Layout’ at about 9:12, the instructor does something where he says ‘make proxy’ , does a search for the word ‘rig’ then says, ‘ta da!’. That rapid sequence was hard to understand what was happening. Could you explain where the ‘rig’ comes from? Is that something you need to include in the Group prior to linking? If the rig gets linked as part of the Group, I’m wondering why it’s never visible at the time an instance is placed. Thanks so much. Just hoping to clarify where the armature comes from and how it’s handled.

You have to press alt control r. I had the same issue I was pressing space bar then typing rig. You need to enter the make proxy menu which looks just like the search menu

And the rig was added into the group instance.
