Imported tools from other blend files

Does this work for including sculpting brushes that I regularly import from another file? Do I need to pack them into the blend file in case the original path changes or should I just move them into the blender installation directory?

Yes it should work. Just import the brush and save the startup file to ensure they’re there every time you open Blender. The startup file is where that data is stored in the installation directory.
