I went ahead and sculpted a high resolution model – no multires modifier. It is over a million faces, and now I’d like to transfer the texture over to a lower resolution model.

My question is – how do i go about unwrapping this high res model? It will be impossible to map out seams… I think I may have missed a step, hoping there’s a way around it.

You don’t have to unwrap the high-res sculpt, just the lo-res model that you’re baking to. Check out this course to see that workflow: https://cgcookie.com/course/texturing-game-assets-with-blender/
