        Are you using official Blender 2.79?

          Also I wonder if it doesn’t show up unless you save it out as an image texture file. Right now the source is “Generated” which means your texture only exists temporarily in RAM. Try saving it to your hard drive and loading the saved version to see if the “normal” checkbox appears.
