How to paint on selected vertices only?

In Maya, I can select an edge loop and weight paint only on those selected vertices without affecting the neighboring vertices that aren’t selected.
How do I do this in Blender?

I believe that is covered in the next video, Alex.
It’s called masking, and you can decide to mask the faces or the vertices.  (all the regular selection operators work for selecting verts/faces but check the bottom information bar which tells you what buttons you can use)

I hope it makes sense after you watch the next videos, but let me know if you still unsure.
