How to make a flag with grommets

I am having trouble making a flag with grommets :

The grommet (rigid body) always ends up falling through the flag (cloth).

I have tried various set ups, including parenting the grommet to the flag vertices surrounding the hole, hooks, parenting to an empty…

Well, here i am, defeated. Any idea about how i can make this particular configuration work ?

I do not, but I have a feeling it has something to do with pinning or parenting the flag to the grommet instead of the grommet to the flag.

HI @koala ,

Dwayne is correct: the secret word is Vertex Parenting.

Pin the Vertices of the flag around the hole. Select three of them (evenly distributed, not next to each other) and go into Object Mode, SHIFT Select the grommet and CTRL+P > Set Parent To > Vertex (Triangle). (Clear the Cache on the Cloth Sim, if there is any).
