how is hey snapping to the center with no x lock

when i watch it i cant snap to the center like in the vid mine only snap to the left corner of the chest ?

@cypanda under the snapping menu there are some additional options for snapping. play around with those a bit (blender 2.81). I like to use the one that snaps using the active vertex myself. I hope that helps.
