How Good is Blender’s Video Editor?

I’ve been bopping in it for a little bit, but how good is it’s Video Editor section  compared to other Video Editors?  Now I don’t expect it to match adobe premiere, but something like  Davinci Resolve, should I learn that other software or just stick with Blender’s Video Edit?  It looks so bare bones compared to others, do I need learn to incorporate other Blender tools to make use of it? I haven’t really learned too much on the node editor yet, dose that really make all the difference? 

I see a few  old video on this site touching it but nothing major, nothing above 2.8.
Also do any of the teacher use blender for there video’s or switch their footage to another.

I think @waylow is the best person to answer this question.

I only use Blender’s video editing along with the compositing in Blender, and find it relatively easy to use and capable of achieving my needs.

Now, I am not producing high quality animations for Netflix, but like I said it works for me.

And like any software, the more you use it the more you learn how to use it and its capabilities.

I would suggest it is well worth the effort of learning Blender’s video editor, and compositing tools. If you then feel you need more than what’s available, you can the invest in other software.

You may be surprised in what Blender can do with video editing, as many are and continue to be surprised the level of modeling which can be achieved with Blender.

I have other software for video editing, but I tend to go to Blender first for simple tasks (since I’m probably in it anyway). It is pretty fast and lightweight.
