Hey everyone! I’m looking for methods to spot and fix minor imperfections (not artifacts) in semi-organic meshes—think car bodies or semi-rounded airplane fuselages. I’m currently modeling a helicopter and have this nagging feeling something looks slightly off, but I can’t pinpoint it. I’ve tried using metallic car paint Matcaps, smoothing vertices, flattening faces, and so on, yet I still sense subtle, hard-to-spot uneven areas. Any advice on how to track these down and correct them?

I never thought of that. I’ve always went by eye, just looking at the model a lot from every angle. Same as you, using matcaps, placing lights, moving them around. I do use mesh checkers to check my mesh in edit mode, since an interior face or double vertices can mess things up without me noticing. But for surface imperfection and wobbles, just good old regular primate vision. Maybe someone knows of an addon or some other tool.

Yes, like Omar says, just look. It’s human vision. You will get better at it with practice, though, so don’t worry.
