In the core physics video here https://cgcookie.com/lessons/hinge-rigid-body-constraint there’s an entire segmented dedicated to the “hinge” modifier. The problem is after watching it, I still don’t know how to make hinge.

In real life, door handles aren’t in free-fall, they rotated only when a force is acted upon them. So, how do I make this physics setup dynamic so that the hinge stays in place, unless something like a cube or someone’s hand collides with it? I don’t want it to free fall I just want it to stay in place, then rotate when something applies torque to it.

It’s a bit overkill to use Physics for that; just Animate it.
