Help! I just started. Do I need a Laptop or a Tablet

I just got blender, I don’t own a tablet, do I use my mouse or do I purchase a tablet? If so what type of tablet and how do I hook my tablet to my 45 inch television?

It depends on what you want to do with Blender (definitely watch: https://cgcookie.com/courses/blender-basics-an-introduction-to-blender-4-x if you haven’t already).

For most things, you don’t need a Tablet, just a Mouse. For Drawing and Sculpting, a Tablet is better (but even then, you can start with a mouse…)

I’d recommend, you just get started with Blender…possible upgrading and/or extending of your hardware is for later concern.

By tablet you mean a drawing tablet or do you mean an iPad or something like that? Because you say you want to hook it up to a TV. If you’re planing on doing a lot of sculpting, then a drawing tablet is recommended, but it’s better to start with a cheap Intuos one, then if you feel you love sculpting and you want to go pro, then you can consider a better tablet. For regular everyday Blender stuff, a mouse is more than enough, a 3 button mouse is a must in my opinion.
